The Northern Parrot Company approached Indoor Cat Ltd to develop a grass product, safe for parrots in a Grow Your Own Kit format.
We advised on design, materials and ingredients. Ensured all aspects of compliance were covered off and manufactured & delivered in plenty of time for product launch. Learn how we worked seamlessly to get two new products launched, into FBA warehouses and selling fast
Northern Parrots required a clear and commercially realistic development programme that would allow a new product to move efficiently from concept through to manufacture and launch. The project therefore needed carefully managed development stages, testing and production planning while maintaining agreed launch timescales.
Ingredient quality was fundamental to the brief, with an emphasis on carefully selected feed materials appropriate for companion birds and consistent with the quality expected from the Northern Parrots brand. Indoor Cat Ltd sourced and developed the products around high-quality ingredients while considering consistency, traceability and suitability for commercial production.
Products needed to sit naturally within Northern Parrots’ established portfolio rather than appearing as standalone third-party products. We therefore developed the products specifically for white-label integration, allowing Northern Parrots to retain its own brand identity, positioning and customer relationship while benefiting from our specialist product-development expertise.
The products needed to be commercially viable as well as technically successful, so logistics, production costs, packaging and fulfilment were considered throughout the development process rather than at the end. Ease of use was equally important, resulting in products designed to be straightforward for customers to understand and use while remaining practical and cost-effective for Northern Parrots to stock, distribute and sell.

Indoor Cat Ltd worked closely with Northern Parrots to translate the initial brief into two commercially viable white-label products. Each product was developed around the needs of companion birds while taking into account ingredient suitability, usability, production efficiency and how the finished products would complement Northern Parrots’ existing range.
The products were developed specifically to sit within the Northern Parrots brand rather than being adapted from an existing retail product. This allowed the finished range to maintain Northern Parrots’ established identity while Indoor Cat Ltd provided the specialist product development, manufacturing knowledge and technical support behind the scenes.
Suitable feed materials were carefully selected with an emphasis on quality, consistency and traceability. Product formats and ingredient combinations were refined through the development process to create reliable products capable of being manufactured consistently at commercial scale.
Packaging formats, production requirements, logistics and unit costs were considered throughout development to ensure that the products worked commercially as well as technically. Particular attention was given to creating an uncomplicated customer experience, with products that were straightforward to store, sell and use.

The project resulted in the successful development and launch of a new white-label product within the Northern Parrots range. From initial concept through to finished production, the product was developed specifically around the requirements of the client and their customers.
By using Indoor Cat Ltd’s existing product-development, sourcing and manufacturing expertise, Northern Parrots was able to introduce a specialist new product category without having to establish the associated development and production infrastructure internally.
Rather than appearing as an externally sourced product, the finished product integrates naturally within Northern Parrots’ existing portfolio. This enabled the company to expand its product offering while retaining complete ownership of the customer-facing brand and proposition.
The project established a repeatable framework for future product development between the two businesses. With the core processes, manufacturing requirements and commercial considerations already established, additional products can be explored and developed more efficiently as the range evolves - see below.

In February 2026 the Northern Parrot company requested an extension of their range to include an Organic/Approved Grow Your Own Kit from Oat seed based on customer demand. We were only to happy to oblige and introduced the additional product to their range in 4 weeks, delivering their product straight into their Amazon FBA logistics chain.
